6-8/11/2024 – Ukraine Legal Network, Capacity-Building & Training Event

Niké Wentholt joined the Ukraine Legal Network (ULN) for their capacity-building training in November 2025. For the two-day event, around twenty Ukrainian legal experts and practitioners from around Europe came together in Amsterdam to together build their knowledge on the possibility for compensation for Ukrainian victims of Russian agression. Niké was invited as panelist to present insights from our Dialogics of Justice project. In the panel together with Prof Luke Moffet and Veronika Skorobogatko, she shared about the importance of victim-centred reparation and the interactions between legal and non-legal reparation efforts. The Dutch court cases and societal initiatives for reparation for the Srebrenica genocide were used to illustrate opportunities and challenges.

One of the main goals of the capacity building training is to ‘create a pro-bono team of lawyers dedicated to helping Ukrainian victims in their efforts for redress and enable them to claim for compensations.’ The ULN has compiled a report with the main insights of the training, please have a look at the report below.
