Can you address historical injustice via civil court procedures and why could this be important? In this article Niké Wentholt and Nicole Immler explore the role civil courts could play in facilitating the slavery justice movement, inspired by various court cases we have seen in the Netherlands on colonial massacres, failed peace missions, and other massive human rights abuses; we studied in our project DoJ Dialogics of Justice. The article is part of a special issue of the Netherlands Journal of Legal Philosophy on law and slavery that also includes important contributions by Wouter Veraart, Guno Jones, Yolande Jansen, Ype de Boer, and Luigi Corrias.
The article was published in 2023 in Netherlands Journal of Legal Philosophy, 2, (2023):189-210. The article is available here, as well as the entire Edited Volume, which is available on the website of the Netherlands Journal of Legal Philosophy here.
